SAFETY & POTENTIAL HAZZARDS:
All visitors (including anglers) to the reservoir enter at their own risk accepting the hazards and dangers presented both by a large body of deep water and any unsupervised activity in which they chose to partake.

Fishing anywhere and especially in cold conditions carries a higher than normal degree of risk. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are medically fit, properly equipped and sufficiently experienced and/or skilled for an unsupervised activity of this type and you must inform us prior to booking if you have any concerns in this respect or you have any condition we should be aware of that might give rise to a greater than normal degree of risk. Please remember special medication, drugs or alcohol in any quantity can significantly increase your risk of accident, hypothermia and drowning.

All rods fishing the water are advised to wear eye protection and a life jackets at all times. If you do not have your own please ask at the time of booking, we have a limited number available for hire. There are separate rules for safety in boats or when float-tubing see below however bank anglers are advised to fish in pairs or at least remain clearly audible and visible to others in case you should get into difficulty and carry a mobile phone in a waterproof case. The emergency telephone number for the duty manager during fishing hours is posted each day in the Fishing Lodge.

Anglers must not to cause danger to others and should take special care if there are people passing behind them or there might be a risk of their line fouling a boat. Boats have right of way over bank anglers but boat users are asked to keep a safe distance.

Anglers wading are warned that there are areas of soft mud and deep holes at Weir Wood and great care should taken.

Fishing is not permitted from the dam wall at any time, the surface is too steep and slippery. There is also no fishing in the nature reserve (at the far eastern end beyond the line of marker buoys) at any time or off the wall (on the Lodge side) Saturdays, Sundays or Wednesday evenings after 5pm.  Boats are not available for hire on major sailing days (see diary on-line), Sunday mornings before 1pm or after 5pm on Wednesdays.

PARKING
Anglers must park in either the main car park or in the designated area down by the water works. As these are public car parks, all visitors park their cars at their own risk. There is a ferry service from the main lodge for bank anglers wishing to access remote areas please ask at the main lodge for times.

PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF DISEASE
If you have fished elsewhere recently, please ensure that your boots and tackle have been thoroughly cleaned and dried so as to minimise the risk of spreading disease or parasites. If you are concerned about this please ask at the time of booking. We will be happy to disinfect your tackle before you start fishing.

SSSI
All visitors to the reservoir and especially anglers are requested to respect Weir Wood’s protected status as an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and follow and observe the Country Code. In particular we ask anglers to respect the no fishing rule in the Nature Reserve at the western end of the lake (see map); not to start fires for any reason and to close all gates and take your litter home.

LIABILITY
All visitors to the reservoir shall indemnify Mike and Debbie Smith trading as Weir Wood Angling, Weald Water Enterprises Ltd, Southern Water and or any other affected third party against any loss or damage to property at the reservoir and surrounding areas which might arise from his or her presence or activities at or on the reservoir including but not limited to boats, jetties, moorings, vehicles, buildings and infrastructure.

PURCHASING PERMITS, HIRING BOATS AND OR TUITION & COURSES
When purchasing a fishing permit or booking a boat or some tuition or a course you are accepting to be bound by the fishery rules. In particular please note that all payments for made for fishing permits tuition, courses and/or boat hire are non-refundable. Weir Wood Angling Ltd cannot accept liability for any loss of fishing due to matters beyond its control and in particular fishing lost due to bad weather or unfavorable conditions.
